User Reviews MY FAVOURITE TML PLAYOFF MEMORIES. With the Leafs
return to the playoffs this upcoming season (damn straight Im
going there!) I thought I would start the upcoming season off right
by re -counting my favourite Leafs playoff memories. Being born in
1976 my first memories of any Toronto playoff success had to wait a
while. This leads in to my first, and coincidentally my favourite,
Leaf playoff memory. The memory in question is Torontos 1992-1993
season followed by their remarkable run to the conference finals.
After Cliff Fletcher pulled of the coup of the decade by ripping
Calgary off of Doug Gilmours services in early 1992, the Leafs
improved immediately. Couple Gilmours arrival with the play of
rookie goaltender Felix Potvin and the always amazing Wendel Clark
and you have a tough team to play against. They were still
considered underdogs in the first round of the playoffs though
(despite netting 99 points during the regular season) when they
went up against the behemoth Louis
Vuitton Agency Detroit Red Wings. The Leafs shocked the
hockey world though when they took the series to 7 games and
eventually won it on Nikolai Borschevskys tip in goal early in
the first overtime period. I remember this moment like it was
yesterday, my heart was in my throat the whole time! The second
round saw the Leafs face the St. Louis Blues and the ultra hot
goaltending of future Leaf Curtis Joseph. Despite the Leafs
throwing at times close to 60 shots a game at him, the Blues hung
in there and took the series to the full 7 games. The Leafs
prevailed in the end though and what was lost in Cujos stupendous
performance was how good the goalie at the other end of the ice had
also played. Then came the Los Angeles Kings in the conference
finals. This series should have ended at 6 games but a non-call by
none other than Kerry Fraser (booooooo!) when Gretzky blatantly
high-sticked and cut open Dougie, helped the Kings extend the
series to 7 games

and ultimately prevail. And itsa
shame too because Montreal ended up winning the Cup that year. What
a final that would have been (thanks Fraser, ya prick!). Toronto
owned Montreal that season and finally would have ended the
drought. My second favourite playoff memory took place the season
after. The Leafs had shuffled their roster a tiny bit, not a lot,
so they were still a dangerous bunch. They began the season with an
NHL record tying 10 game win streak. Their playoff run, although
not quite as memorable as the previous seasons, was still amazing
to behold. The Leafs ousted the Blackhawks in 6 games in the first
round and this was huge Louis
Vuitton Factory because Chicago always had Torontos
number around that point in time. They then took San Jose in the
full 7 games before running out of gas in the conference finals
against the Canucks, losing in 5 games. I remember Kirk McLean
being a big problem for the Leafs in Vancouvers net, and Pavel
Bure was the dangerous Vancouver forward. My third favourite memory
is the Leafs 2002 playoff run. The first round was easily my
favourite part of this playoff run, and quite possibly the most
violent playoff series of the modern era. It took the Leafs and
Islanders 7 intense, blood soaked games to decide that Toronto
would be the ones advancing. This series was a war right from the
start. Both teams seemed to hate each other and at times it seemed
to be more important as to which team could hurt more of the other
teams players rather than who could score the most goals… it
was fantastic! My three favourite memories from this series was 1) < br /> Gary Roberts absolutely destroying Kenny Jonsson, 2) Darcy Tucker
destroying Mike Peca (sorry Pecs!), and 3) the chants of Steve
Webb!
